Classic Video Games - Thrift Store Finds on my Birthday

It was my birthday yesterday and I decided to stop into a few video game stores on the way over to my parents for dinner.  The first place I stopped was a Thrift Store.  They had a few games, but most of them were sports titles so someone had obviously already picked over them.  I did manage to find two games in the bin though.  The first was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for the Playstation 1.  I enjoyed this game growing up and didn't have it in my collection so I decided to pick it up for $2.  I also grabbed a longbox copy of Goal Storm for the PS1 for $2.

PS1 Games: Paid $4 - Retail $12

As I was leaving the store, I took a look in the used books section and saw a game I hadn't played in years!  It was in excellent condition and was the big box edition of Ultima Online Renaissance.  I played this game for SO many hours in college, so I was very happy to see this copy in such great condition so I grabbed that up for $5 was pretty happy with the finds.

Ultima Online Renaissance: Paid $5 - Retail $40

After the thrift store, I stopped at a used CD/game store on the way home and took a look around.  They have tons of games, but usually their prices are just slightly below eBay prices.  The first thing I saw there were some old Microvision games in their boxes and in great shape.  I bought all four of them for $20 which is a great deal!  Just the Star Trek alone is worth more than that.  

Microvision Games: Paid $20 - Retail $65

I looked around a little more and found two Philips CD-i games for $5 a piece so I asked the guy to take a look at them.  The first one is Titanic.  I wasn't sure whether this one would be worth the purchase, but I decided to buy it anyways.  Turns out it isn't very much of a game at all, more an interactive documentary covering the timeline leading up to the Titanic sinking.  Sounds interesting to me!  The next CD-i game is Tetris, which I knew I'd be buying right when I saw it.  The guy handed it to me and it was a sealed copy!  I couldn't believe it.

Tetris (Sealed): Paid $10 - Retail $40

Overall, it was a great day for buying some classic video games.  Turns out, the game stores were looking out for my on my birthday!  Just to add on top of all of these games, I went ahead and picked up Diablo III as well.  I've heard great things about the game and couldn't resist the temptation.  I'll be sinking lots of time into this one, I'm sure.

Those are the video game deals I found this time.  Always remember, never pass up a chance to stop in a thrift store.  You never know what you'll find.
