Game Hunting - Louisville to Cincinatti - Dragon Con & Video Game Stores

September 5, 2013 2:22 am - DinkyDana

This past weekend, I took a road trip down to Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA.  The convention was an absolute blast and I had a ton of fun.  On the road trip back, we had a little free time so we decided to use my video game store locator to find some video game stores on the way back home.

The first place we stopped was right outside of Louisville, KY called Game Force.  This was a really nice store with lots of space, TV's set up all along the walls allowing you to "Try Before You Buy".  That's a really nice idea that I haven't seen any other stores allow you to do.

I had a chance to speak with the owner and he said they also do tournaments, midnight releases, giveaways and fun stuff to keep the store fun and offering great deals.

The games I picked up at Game Force - Paid $30 ~ Value $40

Altered Beast (Sega Master System)

Fatal Fury (Sega Genesis)
GreenDog - Beach Surfer Dude (Sega Genesis)
The Darkness (PS3)
Kane & Lynch (Xbox 360)
Brutal Legend (Xbox 360)

The next store we visited was in the Tri County Mall in Cincinatti, OH called Game Swap.  The store had a very large selection of games, toys, consoles, and lots of other gaming related items.  There were a lot of games I really wanted to buy here but the prices were just too high.  If prices were 25% lower, I would have dropped a lot of cash here.

The Lost Vikings (Sega Genesis)

Joust (Atari 7800 Sealed)
Dig Dug (Atari 7800 Sealed)

The final shop that we stopped at was also in the Cincinatti, OH area and was called Arcade Legacy.  This store could quite possibly be the very best video game store I've ever seen.  They had thousands of video games for all consoles, imports, soundtracks and toys.  Pretty much anything you wanted, they'd have it.  I asked the employee how they get all their games and he said that everything is entirely collected through trade.  They don't buy or sell online, everything I saw in the store was brought in by someone in trade.

They also offered an entire arcade experience.  All of their arcade machines (over 50) were set to free play.  You pay by the hour to play all the games and the selection here was incredible.  Many of the old arcade games I remember from my favorite home town arcades were here.  If this store were located in Pittsburgh, I would be there all the time.

The games I picked up at Arcade Legacy - Paid $57 ~ Value $220

Mega Man (IBM, Tandy)

Shadow of the Colossus Import Soundtrack
Frogger (Atari 400/800)
Xaxxon (Atari 400/800)
Diablo (PC)
Galaga (PC)
Days of Thunder (NES box)
Wizards & Warriors (NES box)
NARC (NES box)
Barker Bill's Trick Shooting (NES box)
